Until recently, my father's family feuded so much that they couldnt be in the same room. After I was diagnosised with cancer....it was a wakeup call to them. I wish things had been better sooner. We rarely had family get togethers when Grandma was alive. My kids and I hardly know most of the cousins that didnt live locally. I have made an effort to get to know them and I really enjoy their company...but all the years of hard feelings have taken their toll and no one wants to participate in family reunions!

Both of my sisters only live about 3 hours from my parents and I ... so we see each other quite often. We have family reunions every summer ... either on my dad's or mom's side.

That's sooo sad ... about all the hard feelings in your family ... It'd be so nice if everyone would just realize ... we're not here for long ... treasure the time we do have.

Wishin' you well Kim ... I hope your family situation improves, and your on your way to full recovery in regards to your cancer. ((hugs))

I think that's not uncommon these days. One side of the family gets together once a year for a family reunion. The others not at all, at least not the whole family.

Maybe once every year or two. It's to bad that families can push themselves apart like they do. It is so much more work and effort to hate than to forgive. I once thought it would be cool to ask all my family members for a christmas present that would require no money or shopping what soever. The present to me, would be that each family or friend would ask another family member for forgiveness for something. We'd all cry, yell, laugh and then get drunk together.

actually if nothing happens, we gather third times a year. but it doesn't stop us in visiting each other... means not all of us come...
if no one wanted or can't spend their time to gather,my mom usually visit them... or bother them by calling, sms.....just to show how precious they are...
