I'm not trying to tell you how to raise your son, so please dont think that I am, but considering the fact that he's overweight and only 8 years old, it would probably be the best to limit his candy intake. I'm not saying do not take him trick or treating, thats one of the best parts of being 8, but not to really let him pig out. I remember when I was young, coming home with bags of candy, and pigging out all night until mom found out. All of my friends would sit there counting all our pieces to see who had more.

But ANYWAYS I think anyone from the fiinstones would be fun. His favorite cartoon character or superhero maybe.

If the size part is an issue, I know that Old Navy has costumes for children, and considering that they have huskey sizes, they probably have them in costumes also.

Good luck with finally coming up with who to be. I remember taking so much time to figure out who I wanted to be. I would drive my mother nuts! Dont forget to have fun with your son and be safe!

Let him be whatever he wants to be. He's a kid let him have fun. My whole childhood was focused on how overweight I was. I never did anything because I was too fat. I was a little overweight but nothing awful. I was able to do things. But I was told I couldn't because big people don't do those things.

Please let him be a kid and have fun. Stop making a big deal out of the weight issue. You can make better food and activity decisions for him. Just don't make a big deal out of it. I remember being on diets when I was in 4th grade. I have serious food issues now. Don't do it to your kid.

Sorry you wanted a costume idea and I gave you everything else.

How about a bear? Like a grizzly ? it wouldn't be too hard to make a costume, get some furry brown blanket, cut out hand holes and you could sew gloves on and put claws on them, then cut out a face, buy fake teeth and he's set to go. I think he'd like that, he could growl!

Just ask him what he wants to be. Encourage him to help figure out what he wants to be regardless of his weight. Heck, I was an overweight kid, and I went as whatever I wanted for halloween every year.
