A balanced one with enough carbs, fat and protein to maintain your metabolic needs. If you want more specifics, there are several websites that will give you meal samples and recipes on how to cook healthy. www.ediets.com or www.diet.ivillage.com If you exercise, you may need more protein in your diet. Make sure you drink plenty of water and stay away from processed foods (pre-packaged stuff) because of the high salt content. Also avoid refined sugars found in white breads, cookies, donuts etc.. The key is moderation and it's hard to make all the changes in your diet at one time. Slowly integrate these changes and it will be much easier. Good luck..

It's best to do a diet that you can live with for the rest of your life. You may lose weight slower but in the end you'll have great results that last. The food pyramid is a great guide. Eat good carbs and limit the bad. Fruit, veggies, and dairy are very good in your diet just don't overdue it. Good luck!

Don't pick any particular diet or food group to concentrate on. Determine your target weight and find a website that will help you calculate how many calories you can consume daily to get to that weight in a safe amount of time. Eat anything you want, but do not exceed your calorie limit. Actually, don't eat anything you want, just balance yourself with carbs, protiens and yes, fats and don't eat after 8:00 p.m. - take a fiber supplement and drink tons of water.

The best one I have ever Tried is a Total Removal of Carbohydrates!
It's amazing how many Carbs are in all kinds of Foods!
I'm Fruit Crazy, and found that hardest!
I now find a Carb Reduction works better!
Avoid Potato's,Pasta and Bread.
Replace with vegetables!(Roasted with Olive Oil is best)
Lots of Fish and Meat(Hope You're not a veggie!?Apologies if you are!)And Fruit of Course!
Avoid Pure Fruit Juices! They are Loaded with Carbs!!
Herbal Teas with an Occasional Teaspoon of Honey is Wonderful drink!
Forgot to mention-Avoid Artificial Sweeteners - They can affect your metabolic rate when eating foods like these!
Moderation in Moderation is the Key!
Hope you can use some of what I have mentioned!

Diets do not work. 99% of people gain the weight back. Here is how it works. No one teaches the animal what to eat and what not to eat. He knows instinctively what to eat. Humans also have the same instinct. The way it works is just eat whatever tastes good and that will be healthy for you and non-fattening. That is why a baby tastes everything. So again whatever tastes good, is good for you. This is why you will spit out spoiled milk.
But wait!!! Man has the technology to create rat poison. It tastes like healthy food (good taste) but kills the rat. So man has done that to you. Note- any food unaltered by man (uncooked) that tastes good, is good for you. So if you are stranded in the woods, that is how you know what to eat (cooking changes that). So man has created fake fruit. It tastes like fruit that exists in nature but it is terrrible for health, addictive and fattening called sweets.
So it is natural to like real sweets called fruit, like a baby does, but they have fooled you just like the rat. But they do not want to kill you. They want you to become obese so you will buy lots of their foods. This is called GOOD BUSINESS. Remember the above (not on site) and see site below to re-learn how to eat so you can be thin and fit for life.

Hiya
You really can't go wrong with the South Beach Diet but if you find it too restricting (like I do!) then skip the Phase 1 and move on to Phase 2 of the diet (more doable). It works on the glycemic index of different types of food and promotes the consumption of low glycemic foods. Don't forget to exercise.

These diet fads are all nonsense. You simply have to control intake...how much you eat compared to how much physical work you do. Many of these fad diets are dangerous to your health and well being. You added weight over years...lose it over time, not today. We have seen apple, vinegar, banana, cabbage soup, etc etc...these are bound to fail...you need to simply eat less and allow the body to accept less food, and begin to burn the extra calories you have been storing up.

All you have to do is simply drink water regularly. Chew the food properly. But NO to carbonated drinks, sweets, salty and spicy food. If you happen to have salty food, simply pour 1/8 cup of water to lessen its salty taste. Don't forget to drink water after meal.
I lose weight doing this from 75 kilos to 61kilos in 3 months :)
Try it.
