Can i whach movies and listen to pop music while ramadan and may it cost the validity of fasting

Fasting does not mean only the fast of your stomach, but fasting is for every part of your body. eyes, tongue hands etc. avoid any bad things.
One of the reasons why you should not watch movie or listen to music is that, in that time you will not remember your lord(Allah) and might forget the prayer.
The Prophet said, "Whoever does not give up forged speech and evil actions, Allah is not
in need of his leaving his food and drink (i.e. Allah will not accept his fasting.)"

I am glad you asked this question. Bcos others would be doing it in private.
I suggest that since Ramadan is the time to fast and pray and you should keep away from things you like to do or enjoy. ( and not just showoff of Fasting and prayer)
So its upto you. If you have a CD that your friend gave you and have to return it soon, watch it
However, if you thing it can be watched after ramdan do it after id.

Ramadan is a time when Muslims concentrate on their faith and spend less time on the concerns of their everyday lives. It is a time of worship and contemplation. This month is specially blessed from Allah. That's why even though watching movies and listening to music wouldn't break your fast, these should be avoided to keep the sublimeness of Ramadan.
English movies and pop music often contain matters which are totally against Islamic views. And enjoying them in the holy month of Ramadan would be a serious sin in that case. That's why it is recommended to avoid such things.

We Hindus -particularly while fasting for Lord Ayyappa (41 days) normally we avoid such things and we lead very simple life. So my personal suggestion is that you watch movies but not of over sex, horror, crime related movies! As far as listing to pop music -I always hate not only during fasting time but also other time because those types of sounds is not necessary for us...we can always listen to melodious music ..old-gold songs of Lataji, Mohd. Raffi, Mukesh, Mannade etc etc!!!

well I'm a Muslim and I try to use this holly month 4 good deeds.
I think it is a waste 2 watch movies, try Reading Quran it will benefit you 4 sure.

I wouldn't watch movies or listen to music during fast times. Music and movies have suggestive lyrics. You are suppose to abstain from sex and lust as well as food.

What is your obejective in Ramadan?
Islam is not about peoples opinion, Islam is about what Allah has ordained us to do not only in Ramadan but through out our life.
Why are we fasting? it gives you cleansing effect right
we do taubah, this is the month repentance is done heartily.
Whats the point in fasting if you are sinning at the same time.
Music is devil's creation depriving you of Quranic verses.
Surah Lukman verse 6 defines well.

u know i'm addicted to music, whaterver i do or whereever i go i listen to music, but in ramadan u better focus on your prayers, fasting and try to be close to GOD, it's only a month, i stopped listening to music since ramadan started n i really miss those songs but i'm tryin to control myself n instead of listening to music i read the holly Qu'ran n i'm trying to finish it before the end of Ramadan...and i'm focusing a lot on increasing my prayers...i'm not a religious girl i'm a normal girl, ....so try to control yourself for a month it's only a month :) good luck and Ramadan Karim

I have some Muslim friends who are fasting during the day and then watched a movie with me two days ago. So I guess it's ok. I think they can't drink any alcohol at night, though, during the holiday.
