The point has been made repeatedly in the answers to your question that most Muslims are peace-loving and that the Al Quada crazies have perverted Islam. Maybe that's true, I don't know. It's also irrelevant as long as the majority of Muslims tolerate the radicals. Only when the Muslims have mass demonstrations to protest bombings in the numbers that they turn out to protest goofy cartoons, when Muslims drop a dime to the FBI on the radicals in their mosque who trash America, and appear to be headed toward violence, will it be true that the vast majority of Muslims are peace-loving. Until then, it is just as possible that the bulk of Moslems are just too scared or apathetic to get involved or that on a certain level, they applaud the actions of the Al Qaedas, Hamas, Hizbollah, etc.
By the way, being a Muslim does not seem to insulate from the actions of the radicals. Most of the people killed in Iraq by the insurgents are other Muslims. Shiites vs. Sunnis.

The answer to this is quite simple. Those who are flying plains into buildings and blowing up trains to hurt and kill people are not Muslims.

you have to understand the religon to understand the answer to that question. There are two types of muslims. Not all muslims fly planes and kill them selves for their God. Some would NEVER do that. some are regular people like you and me that just want to live a peaceful life and enjoy it. then there are those who ruin the muslim name by doing crazy acts and blaiming it on their religion when really its their own personal stupidity and ignorance that commits them to suicide.

According to everything I've read about the true Muslim beliefs, they ARE a peaceful people, but with every belief system comes a lunatic fringe, such as the Westboro Baptist Church with Fred Phelps and his "Christian" clan who are picketing funerals of our fallen soldiers funerals who claim they died because the US tolerates homosexuality. Lunatic Fringe. Any self-respecting Christian will distance themselves from Mr. Phelps and his church, calling them "not true Christians."
Self-respecting Muslims do most certainly distance themselves from the fringe that are committing these heinous acts against their fellow man. Al-Queda has said they will continue to convert or kill people until the entire world is Islam. But that is not the intent of every Muslim who is practicing the peaceful part of their religion faithfully.
