Okay. Listen to me. If this is only happening when you are falling off or about to sleep, it would seem to me, that there are certain souls longing to be near you, and/or talk with you. You must be a very sensitive person, and they know this. Not answering them will do no good. I suggest you DO talk to any of them that come to you in a nonthreatening way. You say some of them seem to be in some emotional pain. These are spirits that are looking for some comfort, and understanding. They are stuck between the worlds, they probably did not die in a good way, or they simply were not ready..it could have been sudden for them, and they really believe they are still alive. I hope this makes sense.
Suggestions: Do speak to any of them that seem open to you.
comfort them as you would a dear friend, tell them that you want to help. (many souls like this are actually very insecure and scared, and many are depressed). So comfort them, tell them you really care, and want to help them onto the right path.
Do not tell them they are dead, tell them that they are loved, and that God loves them, no matter what their past, and not to be afraid. Offer to even say a prayer with them when you are talking to them. Say the Our Father. Ask them if they want you to ask forgivness for ANYTHING they may have done. Bless them, always with saying"peace". They need peace..
Now if any of them get or show signs of anger or worse, or even change form, into something that is scary to you, ask them gently to show themselves to you, in a form you can understand.
Now, there may be people on here, who think what I just told you to do, is very wrong, and that perhaps you are mentaly ill.
I am going to go with the psychic idea, because in your post, you did not show, even the slightest red flag for me to think you might be having a drug problem or mental illness. But I am not a doctor.
Actually, what is happening to you, might seem scary, or alarming, but there are many, many others, who experience this connection to various spirits. They cannot hurt you, and even if you meet one who even threatens you, bless them, tell them you are not going to hurt THEM, and you want to help.
Best of luck and light to you, dear. At this time, you are being given a gift, that may or may not continue. Don't be scared to talk to them, and ask questions, and always confort them, and make them feel you are a helper. They see you as one, or they would not come around you.
Take care, and I will pray for you right now.
Peace
Faith( who is always in progress)

This sounds like it could be disturbing and interfere with your sleep! Has it been going on your whole life, or did it start or get worse at a certain time?
You aren't the first or the last person to "see" people like this. There may be an organic/physical reason why, or there may be something else going on that's triggered by an experience you've had.
You should probably talk to your physician and get a checkup, for starters. Sometimes our bodies can play odd tricks on us if things get a little out of whack. If a physical doesn't help identify the cause, it may be time to talk to a psychiatrist. (Or several psychiatrists; sometimes it's a good idea to interview more than one so you can find one you're comfortable with.)
Good luck!

Are you still awake when this happens or almost asleep in that kind of la la place? When you open your eyes are they gone? How long has this been going on for, all your life or just start?
Maybe it started in relation to some event in your life, something stressful maybe or feeling guilty about something? The subconscious plays some strange games sometimes. Very interesting. I'd go to a dr. to be on the safe side and get checked out.

Hi; have you always had this kind of experience or did you move to a new house/apartment recently? Some people are prone to ghosts (they know that you are sensitive to them so they try to contact you), but some houses are definitely haunted; either that there are some deceased who used to live there or that the house attract spirits, and for some reason they cannot cross over yet (guilt, attachment to this world, unfinished business, etc.). Either way, they are seeking help from living humans to acknowledge them and help them cross over (unless they make you feel like they want to scare you - then they are just evil). You probably won't rid of them until you help them or move out. In the mean time, you can put a glass of water somewhere in your bedroom at eye-level and change water every day; it will calm the spirits down. If it doesn't seem to help, put a handful of sea-salt on a small saucer/plate and put it in a corner of your bedroom (you an also put them in different corners in your home. ...and a glass of water worked for me for non-evil spirits. And for evil ones, I recommend you move as soon as possible.

I can't relate to your situation, but would suggest that you keep a record of what you see and what they say, because your experiences sound fascinating enough that if you eventually put them into a book, people will buy it. Serious answer.

I don't know but it could be a chemical imbalance in your brain that is causing this. Certain meds can also make you hallucinate but he pharmacist will warn you about that. You should go to a doctor asap.

You may be clairvoyant or it might just be your mind an conscience creating these people and situations in your mind to make you realize something about yourself or your life.

I've always heard that if you see someone that isn't really there you're supposed to ask them what they want. I have also heard that you shouldn't ask because there's no way you could help them.
