That sounds more like a kidney infection to me, because your kidney's are located at the lower back near your tailbone but not at your tailbone. Go to your Dr. get it checked out. Also, a bladder infection symptoms are you will have an urgent feeling of having to urinate but then you can't go... Kidney infections usually have a burning sensation when you urinate, but not always. Get yourself checked out you will feel alot better.

Yes it can happen. If you are being treated by your doctor then don't worry about it, keep taking the antibiotics. If you are not taking antibiotics, then go and see your doc now.
Why? Well, the risk with a bladder infection is that the infection can travel up to your kidneys, and that can be quite dangerous. Back pain can be a sign that it is reaching your kidneys. If you're on meds then they will kill the infection off anyway, so that's OK.
Make sure you are drinking lots of water (that keeps the fluids running through your system in the right direction so the infection never gets a chance to creep backwards into the kidneys).

Before someone throws renal infection out there as a possible cause, let me just take a moment to point out that 9 times out of 10 it'll be some musculoskeletal malady. Believe me, if your kidneys go out you'll know - along with the rest of your entire neighborhood you'll be screaming that bad, but then I wouldn't know from Firsthand experience, just what my patients presented with.
As was already mentioned, go to your family doctor who'll most likely prescribe you Ibuprofen or some other NSAID for a couple days to see if that remedies your problem. They'll probably also do a quick blood test to check for high levels of white blood cells, which would indicate infection.

It is very common to have very low or high back pain because of where the kidneys are at, and lower due to the bladder and how bad the infection is.

It shouldnt................unless there is a side infection that affect your nerves supply to your tail.
A bladder infection........if mild n non-serious.......could easily be cleared by drinking lots of cranberry juice n water.
In a more serious case.......get professional help........or may be include a lab test to identify the exact infection source or agent.
A doctor could tell you quite easily where your tail pain comes from.............. may be from your sitting posture, or you unknowingly hurt yourself there in some sporting event.......... but more often it cant come from a bladder infection (there no communication..............despite the proximity......... between your bladder & your tail.
We all tend to avoid the doctor........... but unless you know you had a kick in your butt from a mule........... go and say hi to your doctor today!

Believe it or not, when a woman has lower back pain for no apparent reason (no strenuous lifting exercising etc.) it's usually a red flag that something serious is going on in the front. Don't worry, it will go away once everything gets cleared up. Does Ibuprofen help at all? Try a heating pad too!

who's each man or woman? communicate with a GYN a accepted practitioner that focuses on females complications. He could have a urologist verify you for complications in that section yet you could start up with a specialist.
