Is it not really a sin? In fact, the Bible seems to condone polygamy through examples of God blessing polygamists and by its explicit statements regarding David.
When we read the Bible, we learn about some Prophets marrying many wives, even hundreds of wives in some cases. Let us look at some of the verses from the Old Testament:
In Exodus 21:10, a man can marry an infinite amount of women without any limits to how many he can marry.
In 2 Samuel 5:13; 1 Chronicles 3:1-9, 14:3, King David had six wives and numerous concubines.
In 1 Kings 11:3, King Solomon had 700 wives and 300 concubines.
In 2 Chronicles 11:21, King Solomon's son Rehoboam had 18 wives and 60 concubines

Mormons were known to practice poly. I don't see anything wrong with that. People practice it today through legal channels. They just divorce, re-marry, divorce, re-marry. It's like having multiple spouses, legally, and many have children from multiple marriages. There's nothing wrong with poly, people do it all the time, no harm ever came of it. So why should God condemn it?

I am not sure about the prophets marrying several wives, but the people that you have listed are all kings of which it was quite normally to have many wives. Within the context of Ex 21:10, it is unclear it the texts is referring to man having one than one wife or taking care of the divorced wife. I know this might sound stupid, but it is unclear (at least to me). By the time of the New Testament, Judaism interpreted Scripture to say that a man should have only one wife (referring to Genesis).

Practically speaking, having more than one wife is too hard. Being in a relationship with one person is a lot of work. Plus, how would you split the holidays?

Overseers and servants in the congregation who are to set the example for the congregation were given the following commands:

1 Timothy 3:2 - The overseer should therefore be irreprehensible, A HUSBAND OF ONE WIFE, moderate in habits, sound in mind, orderly, hospitable, qualified to teach ...

1 Timothy 3:12 - Let ministerial servants be HUSBANDS OF ONE WIFE, presiding in a fine manner over children and their own households.

Titus 1:5, 6 - For this reason I left you in Crete, that you might correct the things that were defective and might make appointments of older men in city after city, as I gave you orders; if there is any man free from accusation, A HUSBAND OF ONE WIFE, having believing children that were not under a charge of debauchery nor unruly.

Neither divorce nor polygamy were not God's original arrangement, but he tolerated it until the Christian congregation was established.

God ordained marriage to be between one man and one woman. He did not condone, but also did not punish polygamous unions in ancient times, because He is longsuffering and does not want anyone to perish, but rather, wants all men to come to repentence and be saved. God does not condone polygamy, but rather, He waits a long time before punishing men for certain sins, because He is loving and forgiving and wants to give men a chance to repent and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ before condemning sinful men to hell. It is only because of God's grace that he gives people a chance, even after they commit sins that are clearly mentioned as being wrong in His Word, the Holy Bible.

It doesn't condemn polygamy. It was even encourgaged in the case of the patriarchs. What is condemned is exploitation and abuse. In groups that practice it today not only are young girls abused, but the young men are cast adrift.

Nice sermon. I could have asked the question with fewer words.

Its not condemned because its not wrong except for its legal status. We're told you obey the law of the land.

You are incorrect............
Passage Deuteronomy 17:17:
17 He must not take many wives, or his heart will be led astray. He must not accumulate large amounts of silver and gold.

5and said, 'For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh'[a]?

Footnotes:

Matthew 19:5

Mark 10
Divorce
1Jesus then left that place and went into the region of Judea and across the Jordan. Again crowds of people came to him, and as was his custom, he taught them.
2Some Pharisees came and tested him by asking, "Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife?"

3"What did Moses command you?" he replied.

4They said, "Moses permitted a man to write a certificate of divorce and send her away."

5"It was because your hearts were hard that Moses wrote you this law," Jesus replied. 6"But at the beginning of creation God 'made them male and female.'[a] 7'For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife,[b] 8and the two will become one flesh.'[c] So they are no longer two, but one. 9Therefore what God has joined together, let man not separate."

10When they were in the house again, the disciples asked Jesus about this. 11He answered, "Anyone who divorces his wife and marries another woman commits adultery against her. 12And if she divorces her husband and marries another man, she commits adultery."

The New Testament created the new blueprint and Covenent for people.
Polygamy was no longer accepted
