more than bothered
it's wrong all together
i can't stand the some hospitals are going bankrupt because they have to help illegals who can't pay the hospital bills,
immigration needs to stop and now
I'm all for welcoming the aliens but not when I as an American citizen have to suffer just so they can have a better life, what about my American dream
i was born here and it's sad to see the country fading loosing it's values
what happened to the middle class?
if America keeps going on like this they're no hope for our future
I'm going to Europe A.S.A.P.!

I think the people of Starr County should contact their government representatives and tell them that they refuse to pay more taxes to cover the cost of illegal immigrants giving birth in their hospitals. I think letters should be written to the papers expressing their thoughts over this. I think ALL public benefits need to be cut off to illegal immigrants. I can understand that when a person in labor shows up at the ER, they can not be turned away, but as soon as that baby is born, the whole family should be picked up and deported immediately. If they have money in any bank accounts, it should be seized towards their medical bills, as well. Find out where their income is coming from, who is employing the father and if he is an illegal, then arrest and charge the employer for the medical costs.

I am not happy about the ballooning costs of health care in my area. I had to take my daughter to the emergency room for profuse vomiting. I was ticked off cause here I am covered in baby puke, waiting 2 hours to get in because people(don't know legal status), have freakin' COLDS!!!! I don't even see a doctor-but a very rude physicans assistant who wonders why a three year old might cry when a clumsy nurse inserts an IV and blood spurts everwhere, stay for 4 hours until the condition is stabilized and leave with a prescription. And for all this it costs $4000!!! Thank God my husband has good insurance. I live on the border now but we have lived in a few places, and it has never cost so much for health care. It didn't even cost that much to give birth to my daughter. Then I read about people in Juarez who call the El Paso ambulance to come pick them up, and a certain hospital here who will pick you up at the border, fully knowing your legal status, and give them any healthcare they need, knowing they are probably broke.

It bothers me a lot, and I can assure you that you and your county is not alone with this situation.
1 out of every 6 hospitals open 10 years ago has closed it's doors.
Many emergency rooms are absolutely choked with illegals with routine medical problems. ERs are becoming an endangered species anywhere near the Mexico Border and it is moving farther North everyday.
We either have to round them up and send them home or tax the country out of existence. Just grab your ankles and brace yourself folks, it coming sure as sunrise.

This is occurring all over the U.S. I live in Ga. and work as a medical professional. I see this everyday in our ER. The problem is many illegals feel that Americans owe them something when actually, we have what we have because we worked many years to get it. We didn't just show up with our hands out. Many hospitals are going under due to this epidemic and overwhelming numbers that expect something for nothing. I also might add that this problem isn't limited to just illegals, but also the African American community, that refuse to take responsibility for themselves and their families

How many US citizens show up without healthcare? Last I heard 48.5 million workers are uninsured, and those are all legal documented workers. Sounds like more than just an illegal problem to me, of course its always the illegals fault though!
DAR again! Well could it be that of those 48.5 million, about 7 million are from California, but I know it's all the illegals fault, it can't be these US citizens who refuse health insurance and end up in those emrgency rooms. Try not being so one sided with your arguments, its getting old.

Could it be because of this that ERs are closing? That's what this non-political site thinks, heck they're the doctor's from some of the closed hospitals.

By the way there is only a total of about 160 million people employed in the US, so about less than 1/3 are insured. So that means we would have to also blame about 1 out of every 4 people that answer this question for being part of the problem. And that's a generous 1 out of 4. You guys are full of it! In case you want to blame me I'm one of the ones that actually pays $450 a month for health insurance for my family.

I know this shows 2004 numbers, but the webmd shows 2005, so I gave a few extra 100,000. That should compensate.
