In a sad way, it's like cannibalism---the body will feast on itself, causing muscle atrophy. Anorexia deprives the body of protein and prevents the normal metabolism of fat. In an effort to protect itself, the body slows down. Though in starvation mode, people with anorexia continue to lose weight as muscle deteriorates and they lose bone density (due to loss of bone calcium). Even when in this mode one's body will continue to have some (limited) capacity to metabolize, and will therefore burn some calories.

The best way to lose weight is starving, however most bodies will not allow starving.
I may be able -I NEVER was fat, heavy nor overweight... which I can- lose weight starving- others can't?
It has a lot to do with metabalism!~

At first your body doesn't lose weight, but after time goes by you start losing. Anorexics are starving for a long period of time.

there seem to be many forms of this mental disorder. I know that when anorexics feel they can,t control any thing else in thir life they control the one thing they can and that is feeding thier bodies. They see food as an object. The people that are not truly suffering from this disorder try to punish thier self by food denial and they have to break down and chow down. ON AND OFF FOOD DEPREVATION IS CALLED CRASH DIETING AND NOT ANOREXIA!!!!!!!!
