We can have many loyalties but I believe they need to be put in proper order.
There is no problem with loving a homeland even when you are living elsewhere. But there is a problem in living somewhere and showing all sorts of disrespect. This has happened with some. Especially if that country is suppling you with livable needs. Such as employment, protection, laws that help you sustain yourself , freedoms, entertainment, Are you using its water and energy. One can not just be a taker and have people respect that. They must give to that country too. In appreciation.
I could see a problem if one was ask something like -to kill his family from his homeland. But this is not the issue here. To disrespect the country you are well taking of its resources than a certain loyalty should be given back for these privileges. Otherwise you are part of the problem of selfishness and corruption that ruins countries. We don't want more of that. And we hope that is what they don't want neither.
Do remember some are willing to give that loyalty. I just wish they would speak up against those who are here just to take and are showing such disrespected. And we are seeing way too much of disrespect for this country from groups here.
Would you want a roommate who wants to change "your" whole house to their liking? With no repect to how you have it. Or who is not loyal to you--because he use to have a roommate he liked better.

Good Question. Loyalty is a deep unwavering emotion, forged by as little as a sliver of history with your family in the past or as huge as a massive debt of gratitude to a person or country. It is bestowed and unconditional, perhaps even hidden under a veneer of disdain or open opposition. Loyalty when it shows up can be unexpected and fierce, but it is primal.like love.
What I am saying is that people can fool you but true loyalty shows up when the chips are down. So if you can gauge the immigrants loyalty to your country that is well and good. Let them fly up their flags and talk in their native language, the important things is within the confines of their hearts.

It depends on where they want to reside. If they are only visiting then their loyalties should lie with their native country. If they wish to live here and not become naturalised then they should be loyal to their country and the country they are in. If they wish to become citizens then they should be loyal to the country they immigrated to. The flying of your country of origin is not offensive if properly flown beside host country's flag. Illegal immigrants are breaking the law and should be dealt with but I am not so sure a fence of a bunch of political posturing will solve it. As far as their loyalties it would seem that their loyalties lie with themselves and their families.

I don't think that anyone can forget where they came from. I think it's important to be proud of your roots and to be proud of who you are. However, I do think that if somebody is to leave their country for another one then they should show their "new" country a great amount of respect. I'm not an American but being Canadian we too have a lot of immigrants who seem to have more allegiance to their country of origin than to the one that they now live in. My boyfriend's family is Portuguese and it kind of annoys me when I see his parents' house with the big Portuguese flag flying in their driveway but no sign of a Canadian one. They even fly the Brazilian flag although I'm still not sure why. I have no problem with immigrants showing their love for their homeland, but to do so without showing any kind of loyalty or respect for their new country, kind of bothers me.

With the new country of course, you do not come to a country wanting it's benefits and yet give it no respect.
Prime example, the protesting teens shouting "Vivo Mexico!" They get here, and while they are here they have the benefit of a free public education, so much more opportunity to advance in life, much better living conditions, etc. And yet, it's still Mexico they have loyalty for. What the heck has Mexico done for them and their families? They might as well have spit on us.

Legal Immigrants should be loyal to their new country, while at the same time maintaining the cultures, language, and other things of their old country, just not to an extent where if the immigrant does not know English, that they should expect everyone to learn their language and cater to them.

Absolute loyalty should be in the country you wish to be entitled freedoms and benefits from. Swear to that flag and code in that country. I do not think most illegal aliens have loyalty to America, their agenda is getting the almighty dollar and supporting their own.

You are suppose to have loyalty to the country that provides for you and your family. But always remember your origins and heritage. You are unique and this comes from your history. But if soldiers are fighting somewhere to protect your family, have loyalty for them.

each and every Filipino has to nicely known the reality that they are Filipinos and not feel embarrassment approximately it. you may not basically evaluate your self no longer a Filipino anymore, you may no longer substitute what you're. As to loyalty, it quite is appropriate what the 1st guy or woman (BUNNY?!) suggested, having loyalty to the two is super as long as your happy with it.
