I refuse to disregard logical thought. With that in mind. I just can't believe in God even though I tried

Don't torture yourself. Just surrender yourself.

Think you'll be co-opted by surrending your life to the creator of all that is good? Is your pride this extreme?

You don't have to disregard logical thought to seek God. You don't have to disregard logical thought when you find God. God speaks to the mind and clarifies it--but he cannot be found through intellect alone. God draws near to an earnest, humble heart.

Ask God for earnestness and humility.

For real.

What i will say is not to convince you but perhaps to provoke more thoughts that maybe you have not considered.

The very first step is asking if you believe in absolute truth?
Everyone should, because by definition it just means that theere is only one truth to anything, there is never more than one truth just differing points of view. An example is if there is a car accident, there is only one event that happened and only one way, yet people who saw it often say it happened differently to each other. Still there is only one truth (whatever that is).

Creation happened at some point because we know that we have not always existed. So what should we make of that? We should form a theory of how it happened. Big Bang? God spoke?
We will never know in our lifetimes any real evidence of exactly what occured. So don't try too hard to look for any 100% proof.

The running scientific theory is Intelligent Design (evolution is insufficient enough as numerous experiments under all achieveable conditions were undertaken to attempt and create life and the results reflected an impossibility in life forming this way). Intelligent Design points stright towards a Creator.

But what makes Him real? The you could say what makes wind real? You cannot see or touch or taste either of them. But you can feel the wind. Even if you don't think you have, others have felt God.

I do not know your logical thought, so i'm making a small assumption here and suggest that you don't really believe in the supernatural. And that is precisely what God is, supernatural, spiritual. What logic is emotion? It is not logic, it is seperate and does not make sense. Why do we love? Why do we ever have hope? Can we explain faith?

Do not torture yourself in trying to believe in God. Instead seek Him. Trying to comprehend is not enough. All the answers you seek are out there. I found them but I had to look really hard because I struggled very strongly with it. I looked for answers to disprove God but instead I found the answers all suggested the opposite.

Finally if you need reading material I suggest you pick up a copy of "The Case For A Creator" by Lee Strobel, who was a non-christian journalist until he did what I did and looked for answers.

yes you should. the reason that you couldn't believe in god has nothing to do with the fact that you are an intelligent person who rejects the hateful christian god. You just can't feel god's love because YOU are a bad, hard-hearted person, or you weren't sincere when you tried (that is, you are lying)

Sorry, I'm not an xian, but you'll see that all their answers will be the same as mine, when you read between the lines.

Then choose not to. By having questions, seeking answers and blazing your own trail, you’re already following in the spirit of one religion that… well… is more of a philosophy then a group of peers commanding you to believe what they believe.

If you’d like more information you can go to http://www.buddhanet.net/ I won’t tell you that you should be a Buddhist or not, it’s all up to you.

Believing in God isn't something you try for. Wanting to know God is the start, and once you say to Him you want Him in your life, He shows up, and you believe from there.

No faith should not be a torture. You need to exercise your faith in other words you need to do it not think it, but if that makes you unhappy what can I say. We are all free to choose and I would not try to take that away from you.

Faith is a gift. You cannot believe what you don't believe. To try to believe what you don't believe is to be false. God calls us to be faithful. God calls us to be faithful, to seek truth. Even if you can't believe in God, you can be a faithful person, seek truth, and strive to be virtuous.
