I am 28 years old, my mom was bipolar, I have never had any signs of it. I started my own business about 3 years ago and as time has passed it has gotten lately where I don't want to get out of bed of the morning, I dont want to go to bed at night because I cant sleep. I am not suicidal, but I dont see my life as resourceful. I dont like being around my wife or kids, and constantly thinking about cheating although I love my wife? I am too young to be going through a midlife crisis aren't I? Any suggestions? Anyone else went through this?

Most depressed people don't know it. You may just nrrd some time, when was the last time you did something for yourself? Like for a whole day or weekend, It may not be possible but you should consider getting a hotel room for 2 days no cell phone and your wife can only call in case of emergency. Go to a game or just lay around, everyone needs time to sit back and reflect and you can't do it at home, even if you're the only one there. Then maybe see your doctor. Whatever it is, don't ignore it

So many people go with out help every year because they do not know they have depression. Some times it is really hard to see your self they way you really are. But you got a heads up, with your mom being bipolar there is a big chance theat you might have some kind of depression also. The latest studies think it is hereditary from the mothers side. It sounds like something has happened in your life to cause you to feel the way you do, you now need to find out what that is so you can turn it around. Beleive me you don't want to go any longer with a wall between you and your family and depression is a mighty thick and tall wall. I think it would be very helpful and healthy if you went to see someone in the mental health area, at least a theraphist someone to talk to, someone who knows nothing of or about you and can give you a honest opionion about what you are missing in your life right now. Don't go much longer you need to always remember and with have a bipolar mother you should already know this If you do have some kind of depression you are not the only one suffering from it, your family, your kids feel it too. Get help for your self and do it for your kids. I wish you all the luck

It is possible that you are concentrating on you business too much and you really have no time for anyone else.
FACT: Americans get on average 2 weeks vacation per year compared to 4 - 6 weeks for many other Countries, consequently the suicide rate is much higher in the USA
FACT: Americans work more hours than any other Country in the World, Most Countries full time work week is between 35 - 40 Hours per week, in the USA it is 55 Hours.
How can you expect to be happy when you are going through all this pressure, YES you are just as depressed as I am, I have not had a day off work since Feb 23rd 2006.
I work 7 days per week.
You are just too busy to realize you are depressed, and like most of the rest of the working people who get little or no vacation time etc.
I could go on...........

Depression deffinately runs in families so you should see your Dr. about your concerns. Explain your symptoms as well as your family history. I have been on anti depressants for 2 years and a lot of the things you described I have experienced at one time or another (can't get out of bed, don't want to be around family). See your Dr and get treatment before you do something you will regret--like cheat on your wife. Another thing--I know it's out of character for a man to talk about their feelings, but talk to your wife (I wouldn't talk about the thoughts of cheating). She may be able to give you a little insight as to if you have been acting different than before. Good Luck.

Netta is on the right track.
You need a bit of a shift in the routine. Are there things you look forward to?
Talk about it with your doctor.
Oh, yeah, & that cheating thing - it's a symptom that if you do not seriously address how you life is going right now, you're going to end up doing something really stupid that will make Daddy look pretty bad, no matter why he really acted that way. I guarantee - hoping it will go away by itself DOES NOT WORK!!!
Good Luck!

it really is conceivable. yet in case you've not been affected and also you do not imagine you're, then you fairly're probable no longer and this accepted practitioner's an fool. For some reason, it style of sounds like there is been this huge pastime in melancholy (I went to a clean accepted practitioner and interior of three minutes of chatting with me she marked my 'disposition' on her variety...) in case you do not imagine you're depressed, do not enable her diagnose you with it. docs are not continually proper, you recognize your self mentally better suited than they do.

Yep, sounds like you're depressed. Go to a professional to get a diagnosis and get treated. Even if it's only temporary depression.

Insufficient information. Your community should likely have a community mental health clinic. If you want to talk to a counselor, give them a call.
