There are three seventh graders in my school that are pregnant? What is the world turning into? These girls are only 12 years old. One of them is getting abortion and the other two have to follow through with the pregnancy. Seriously, or future's not looking to bright looking at the way things have turned into.

kids don't seem to think about there future anymore. a lot of girls think that if they sleep with a boy they will like them better. but truth is the boys will treat them like trash. so to all girls out there if you want respect you need to think about what you are doing, and what could happen if you make the wrong decision. be smart. choose wisely

First of all, just because these girls are pregnant, doesnt mean that thier lives are over! Why do people assume that because you make a mistake and have a baby young, you will regret it and have a miserable life forever? I was 13 years old when I got pregnant, and am now 23. I kept my baby, and he is a wonderful, well adjusted third grader in advanced placement classes. I graduated from high school at the top of my class and went to college. I do not consider my life ruined or bad at all. I love my children, and there is no way I would go back and say I wish I never had my son. Yes, it was early and a mistake, but I made the most of it, and have continued on with my life and have no regrets at all. I understand, that you should not say "ok go ahead and get pregnant"! You should teach your children about sex and the results that come of it. However, if you BAN your children from dating, sex, going out, they will defy you. Try to be understanding of what they are going through, and maybe you will help steer them in the right direction. So, I think, that the world cant be too bad because I am a good mother and I have good kids.

I really dont think anyone is in the position to blame the parents. If a child/teen want to have sex, they will find a way. Parents cannot be around their children 24 hrs a day. I am a single parent of 5, I dont drink, smoke, do drugs, or have even had a boyfriend recently...I work and I was attending school..and was at home the rest of the time. My son is 17 and he knows about protection and my daughter is 14 and she is on birth control. I can help them take the precautions...but I cant physically force her to take the pill or him to use a condom everytime... I dont agree with this but I cant turn my back and act like nothing is happening...or "not my kid"...
It is bad...when I was 12 I was still playing with Barbie dolls...I am 35...but times do change we just have to be aware.
teens get pregnant, whether they are rich or poor...it doesnt matter,it happens everywhere.

That's disturbing. Talk about being set up for some psychological issues in the future.
Sounds just like the sort of thing that goes on in a trailer park, where the parents are low lifes and just don't care what their kids are up to.
The sad thing is that some schools do not have a sufficient sex education course. And when they do, children need parents' permission to attend such a class.
If I was you I would seriously bring this up at the next PTA meeting and to your schools superintendent. Obviously whatever your school is doing, is not working for these poor children.
You can't single handedly 'save the world' but you can at least make sure that people are educated about what goes on in their community.

Hun,i believe that education is the key in this situation.Teens are so uneducated about their bodys and sexual activities. The parents are so afraid to speak with their teens about that type of situation because they believe it gives them ideas and also, parents have no idea where to begin. That type of talk should not be sugarcoated,it shoundnt be made out to be some completely horrible. It is nice when you are ready and responsible, and even then there are risks if you arent educated about it.They need to be told about the risks, not only the physical such as pregnancy and std's although those are very very important and should be addressed but the emotional ones as well.Parents often think if they dont tell their teens about it,then it wont be an issue. If parents dont speak to their teens and give them accurate information then they are going to get inaccurate information elsewhere and experiment with that information.Teens are scared to speak to their parents also.It is just the fact that parents often assume that if they ask about it they are engaging in it and they "freak out".Many parents would be surprised or shocked at the type of questions that their teenagers would ask or the things their teenager is curious about.Although,my question is:Would parents rather have their teen get their information inaccurately elsewhere, and possible engage in this type of activity on that inaccurate information,Or would you rather give your teen accurate information about that type of activity and your teen in return making a wise decision about that type of activity.I would choose the latter, and im sure all other parents would too.I believe that is the problem, again this is simply my opinion and take on this subject.Have a good day!!

In our culture it is kind a wrong, but then look at how much our culture is changing. Parents will give there daughters short skirts and makeup to help them look like a total tramp and then not expect them to act like it? And i will finish by saying that do some research on the way thing used to be in the really old days, 13 or 14 used to actually be child bearing age for many cultures and for some it still is.

Sounds like their parents didn't watch over what they were doing and at that age they should not be having alone time with boyfriends or even a boyfriend let alone sex.

That's very sad for your school. You seem very wise in your writing so I think you have the good sense not to get into that situation.

Honestly, when I was 12, we played with dolls and hula hoops, had pretend make up kits and were kids, you only have 1 chance to be a kid and do fun things before you grow up, take advantage of your age and do fun things, not adult things.

It is very wrong I think but it is not all the kids fault either you have to go back and ask where the hell where the parents??? I mean my son will be 12 in 4 months and I still dont let him go pllaces by himself he has to have an adult there at all times! Ican't imagine him going out and doing this kind of thing...he does know about sex...I have had the talk with him and if the parents of the girls you are speaking of had great parents they would have told her about protection #1 and 3 that it is not good to start at the age she has started at!

Ok can anyone tell me why the guy below me copied my respnse?

It is the choice of the individual and their parents ... but yes girls are starting to do things a lot earlier than we used to do... Then it all comes back and the parents and their parenting beliefs and issues. Sounds like the parents are supportive of the girls.....I have a 12 year old daughter myself and I have brought her up to respect herself and those around her and she is aware of those sorts of things in life. We have a very open relationship where we are honest and truthful with one another.
