We do not know Jesus' birthday, as it was not recorded for posterity. We do have reason to believe it was in the spring, since the shepherds were in the fields for lambing season. We celebrate the birth on December 25 for no particular reason, it is just a good time to celebrate this joyful event.
My daughter's birthday is Dec. 31, but we celebrate it in June. So what?

First off, many Christians probably aren't aware it isn't His birthday, assuming He ever existed at all. There are historical reasons why this particular observance falls on this particular day, which topic has been beaten to death elsewhere. But I suspect that even if more of them did know, it wouldn't matter to them because, to quote Cain, "That's not the point."

I once met a woman at a conference who introduced herself by saying she was celebrating her birthday today. After she got a round of 'Happy Birthday' she mentioned that it wasn't actually her birthday, she was simply celebrating it that day - and every day, as it turned out. In parts of the Commonwealth, the monarch's birthday is celebrated on May 24, no matter when it actually is.

Ergo, the idea of *celebrating* something on a particular day, even if it isn't the correct day, is not really so bizarre.

It's not a celebration of Jesus birthday, it's a celebration of His Birth. And why not Dec. 25? No one is pretending it's actually His birthday.

It's a time to acknowledge Jesus birth, to be with family and friends, to celebrate. It's fun!

Of all the arguments to criticize Christians, that one really is one of the lamest. And Scroogiest.

Why do I celebrate everyday in Christ?

Everyday is not Jesus' birthday.

You just recognize Jesus, 1 time a year?

Why then? It's a day off paid? Why don't you give the money back to your boss and work Christmas day?

.You just want to slide by on a crutch and get things handed to you like you blame Christians?

We might not know the Date of His birth, but we can know the certainty of the Incarnation. Even a host of Angels proclaimed the Birth. Magi travelled from afar to witness it.

It is good that each year we might have a special day of celebration of His Incarnation.

However, as for the many ways people celebrate Dec. 25th is another matter. A drunken revellry.

We have strong desire to honor our Lord. It had become a tradition to celebrate it in December. it is such a long standing tradition that I believe God honors that day because we do.

It is even now only known by a small percentage of the people that it is not the actual day. We don't care. It's our tradition.

Because around 12/25 it the darkest time of the year.
After which it gets lighter. Jesus is the light, so it is symbolic of Him being the light. Easter is the opposite, so after his death it gets darker.

Ask any Pastor.

It's an observation of an event... we know its not the actual day... who does know when the actual day was? They didn't exactly keep good records back then. Its just picking a day out of the year and honoring the Birth.
