It is something out of the bible, it means that those who find the path that is long and narrow (Christ) will have life because the fought through having to stay on the pathbecause it is narrow and it is easy to go astray. The path to destrustion is wide and short, means it is easy to follow something you can easily follow, and not really have to think about where your going because many are in front of you leading you down that path, many find it because many follow each other.

It means that there are many roads (or religions) but only one is true and leads to life. The paths of false religion is wide and spacious and leads to destruction. The path of true religion is narrow and not many find it because they don't really look for it. Instead they choose to follow the path that's right in front of their face, the one with the least resistence and least amount of work to find. The wide path is an easier road to take and most people prefer to take the easy way...but those who really want to find the true religion have to search for the path and then fight their sinful tendencies and all of Satan's snares and decoys as well as the persecution and ridicule of those who chose the wide road.

Jesus said: “Go in through the narrow gate; because broad and spacious is the road leading off into destruction, and many are the ones going in through it; whereas narrow is the gate and cramped the road leading off into life, and few are the ones finding it.” Matthew 7:13, 14.
The broad road is popular because it is easy to travel. Its travelers are self-indulgent, given to fleshly thinking and ways, and they want, not to be different, but to conform to Satan’s world. They feel morally hemmed in by God’s laws and principles. (Ephesians 4:17-19) Yet, Jesus specifically said that the broad road leads “off into destruction.”
But why did Jesus say that only a few choose the cramped road? Primarily because only a minority want God’s laws and principles to govern their lives and to help them resist the many inducements to and opportunities for wrongdoing around them. Furthermore, only a comparative few are prepared to fight illicit desire, peer pressure, and the fear of ridicule that may come their way because of the path they have chosen. 1 Peter 3:16; 4:4.

I believe each person deep within knows that this life is not all that there is however most believe they have to work to obtain eternal life. They think it is a scale in which they place their sin and their good works to see which weights the most.
The real way to eternal life is so easy, we do not want to accept it so we keep working instead of doing the ONE thing that will assure beyond a doubt that we have it. Read the link below to find out how to KNOW we have it.

It means that it is no trouble at all to take the easy way out, but the result will not be good; Life and living for God require keen focus and a lot of work.
