Others answers are a little wrong. Anything that you take with your camera that isnt trademark (ie golden arches, mini cooper etc.) can be sold. Even it is private property. The only thing that matters is that an object within the picture isnt trademarked and that the people within have released a model release (only if they are reconizable). You dont have to copyright anything. Anything that you write, take a picture of or paint etc etc. is automatically copyrighted to you. Now, there are certain ways you can protect yourself better from getting your work stolen. 1) register it online 2) place a water mark on the picture.

There are many places that you can sell your photos. www.boundlessgallery.com lets you create an account, make a profile, set your price and post your pictures. A person can buy it at that site and they take 25% commision.

There are others.

Good luck!

Yes, it is very legal. As long as the photo you're selling is not copyrighted by others (hell what am i talking!? It's already his OWN). And by the way, if it is a private property, better ask for persmission first.
