You need a DVD decoder library installed for Windows Media Player to play DVDs. Try Cyberlink PowerDVD.

you need to have a DVD codec to play DVD with your media player. you need to install the DVD codec. you can downloaded from the Internet some of them are free and if normally when you bye the DVD player its coming with the players programs like power DVD

Does your computer have a DVD drive? A CD-ROM drive can't read DVDs regardless of the software you have installed.

By default you'll have correct codecs for DVD playback, if you installed the software which came with your DVD-ROM drive.

if you have real player (which is a free download) that usually will search for the dvd codec that you need and download it, so you dont have to search for it yourself...so ya could try that, i actually prefer real player to windows too

yuk i actually have the same problem. my computer wont play dvds but will play cds or software easily.

someone said you have to download a new driver maybe? or a decoder?
