Because God says its unclean.
which, scientifically we now know, is quite true. its not the cleanest meat to eat even now, and back in the day when there was no refrigeration, irregular/unreliable cooking, and such... it was profoundly dangerous to eat pork whatsoever.
edit: from http://www.jewfaq.org/kashrut.htm#Animals
"Of the "beasts of the earth" (which basically refers to land mammals with the exception of swarming rodents), you may eat any animal that has cloven hooves and chews its cud. Lev. 11:3; Deut. 14:6. Any land mammal that does not have both of these qualities is forbidden. The Torah specifies that the camel, the rock badger, the hare and the pig are not kosher because each lacks one of these two qualifications. Sheep, cattle, goats and deer are kosher. "

Pork used to be dangerous, it readily carries trichinosis, which can make you very ill. Trichinosis can and has been stopped in America and most of the more affluent cultures in this world.
But. it is only right that a Holy man who loves and listens to God would insert in his writing of Gods word a warning to the people for their good health. I think so. I think God approved.
Both the Talmud and the Koran ( which was written later ) came out of the same prehistoric culture ... as did Christ.
A culture where they once lived in peace. Generally.
But, you can eat pork now ... at least in this country. OK?
That's why;

Have you ever had to drive behind a truckload of pigs? I did once - I had to pull of the road the stench was so bad. It was like being near a hundred very badly unwashed humans. I've also read that according to a tribe in south america where funerary cannibalism is practiced, the meat of humans tastes exactly like the meat of the pig, and that is why they believe thier ancestors are reincarnated as pigs. . . which they also eat.
Seriously, though, its not very healthy to eat pork. Other meats are much better for you. And both the Bible and the Quran say it is prohibited.

i dont think it is allowed in Abrahamic faiths -- although Christians now dont take it. but it is not allowed for health reasons. u may keep this animal in best sanitory conditions yet it would eat excreta of others. i mean i wouldnt prefer to eat something that eats dirt and excreta. and also the pork carries germs and diseases too.

i also do not prefer to have shark fin dishes -- they do that mercilessly. in Islam a animal even if slaughtered should feel the least pain and there is a procedure to lessen the trauma, but most people do it so mercilessly. i mean once the fins are cut the rest of the shark is just thrown back. and now that sharks are becoming extinct.

Sura #2 | Madina
173 He hath forbidden you only carrion, and blood, and swineflesh, and that which hath been immolated to (the name of) any other than Allah. But he who is driven by necessity, neither craving nor transgressing, it is no sin for him. Lo! Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.

The Bible Leviticus 11:7
And the pig, though it has a split hoof completely divided, does not chew the cud; it is unclean for you.
The Quran 002.173
He has only forbidden you dead meat, and blood, and the flesh of swine, and that on which any other name hath been invoked besides that of God. But if one is forced by necessity, without willful disobedience, nor transgressing due limits,- then is he guiltless. For God is Oft-forgiving Most Merciful.
God said so, is best i can come up with, enjoy.
