Look up at least some of the words you don't understand. This is probably easier with a computer dictionary. If you are having difficulty with a paragraph, work hard at least to understand the first sentence of that paragraph if possible. This helps in 2 ways: You understand part of it and it can aid in understanding the rest.

If it's in a book that you don't own, make photocopies so you can highlight words you don't know, important phrases, and anything that really strikes you, for whatever reason.
