Life's a gamble. There's no way of really "knowing." Be wary of red flags of abusive behavior, yet be tolerant of the little things that aren't worth fighting over.
Also, keep in mind that time can change people. All the time we hear of people complaining "That's not the same person I married."

i wonder that myself. some people say you just do. but i kinda think i'll never really know, because i never really Know anything. No relationship will be perfect. you just have to make sure the good out weighs the bad. And don't compare yourself to other couples, this will only make you feel like your relationship does not measure up. because the thing is, what works for some couples does not always work for others. i guess you can wait it out and see if you "find out" or just take a leap of faith.

Well, it just feels right. One of the ways I know is that I don't feel like I have to be someone else around him. I don't worry about acting stupid or saying something dumb.
You will still have arguments but you get over them.
