How old is he? Do you know why he is boisterious? Maybe it's his outgoing personality and maybe he's highly intelligent and needs some outlets for that. Make sure he has a lot to occupy himself with .. creative toys, learning tools and toys and games, and that he gets enough loving attention from you.
Find out if anything is upsetting him, or take him to a doctor to see if there could be anything wrong somehow, which there probably isn't, but you could tell the doctor if you think he is acting out more boisterous than before.
Children need predictability and security as well as love and attention and plenty of time for them to discover who they are and their world. Have fun with him, and treasure these years. Blessings!

What exactly do you mean by boisterious? Is he hyper? Does he misbehave? Sometimes children act up because they want to get your attention. They want any attention , even if it is negative...such as you scolding or yelling. You say he is your eldest, is it possible that you pay more attention to the other children and he is trying to act up to get you to pay attention to him? I would suggest some quality one-on-one time with him a couple of times a week. If he is just hyper and happy... try swimming or track. Some activity that he can use up some energy for good.

Eldest or a son make no difference How old is the child? that is more pertinent. Get yourself a good book on parenting ask your peditrician for it. basically you should reward the good behaviors and gently punish the bad behaviors. Kids do things to get attention so be certain the child gets enough time to spend with you without haveing to go to extremes for that attention. try showing him ways to express himself that are not so disruptive. Rewarding the good behavior works better than punishing the bad because punishment is still attention, bad negative attention but attention all the same which is why punishment only works to some degree.

Plenty of chores, plenty to do, outside reading and homework, and, by the way, buy a puppy for the child.
