I have a cyst at the middle joint of my thumb. My husband helped me to drain it about 2 months ago, but now it is back. It is somewhat sore. I have been reading about ganglion cysts, but they seem to be located on the wrist. Are there any medical people out there that are familiar with this condition? Is it safe to just drain it once in awhile?

It is very dangeroust to drain anything yourself, that could make it worse or cause a major infection. My daughter had one where yours is when she was very small and it just went away after time as if her body re-absorbed it. If I were you I would just leave it alone and see what happens, if it doesn't go away or becomes more bothersome see an orthopedic specialist and he can remove it for you.
