An illegal rapes a child and uses his status as his defense...How do you justify that? Is he just another poor, poor soul who didn't know any better because he isn't American and doesn't know the laws against having sex with a minor? He claims he shouldn't be punished here because he isn't even a citizen...is it ok then for him to be illegal?

Where do you get that all illegals are rapists? I hope you aren't their #1 supporter...

siervocal: interesting answer, considering I didn't mention him being Mexican, or any other race, for that matter...cute of you to name him Pedro, though.

Elf: It absolutely doesn't group anyone. It is a question about a specific act committed by one person. It also isn't claiming that *all* illegals are anything other than someone who is in a country illegally.

All I know is, my father had a .357 and if that happened to any of my sisters, his bullets wouldn't have cared about the perp's legal status.

Are you kidding? We have a congressman doing the same thing and then crying to the media that it's because he was abused by someone when he was 13 and when he drinks alcohol he wants to be with little boys! He's offered to resign and go into rehab for his alcoholism! Damned shame we can't deport his sorry behind!
Or how about this one? A top cop in my city was just indicted on 49 counts of sex with minors. The encounters occurred over a 10 year period during which time he served as a police officer, our high school resource officer and head of the department's explorer post. The charges include: rape, sodomy and oral copulation. Oh, and by the way, both girls names are being withheld from the public because they are still minors!
Neither of these men are illegal aliens. As a matter of fact they are several generations American!! Yet they have used there positions to take advantage of our innocent children. These are men we should be able to trust. These are men who are a part of our culture and know darn well what they are doing is wrong!
At least an undocumented alien's claim of not knowing our laws is feasible. With these two American men, the situation is deplorable seeing as how one makes the laws and the other enforces them.
If you are pissed at illegal aliens, at least be pissed for a good reason. Don't blame them for the same bad acts that Americans are committing and act as if they are somehow worse.

No that's not an excuse but heck people who do that are low lifes and would use any excuse to justify what they did.Same could be said of a legal american citizen who rapes and kills an 11 yr old child and then justifies it with the excuse of "i was under the influence of drugs",both are the same only difference is the legal status. But heck what can you expect when a person in such a high position as Congress does the same thing and tries to excuse it by saying he had a drinking problem and was abused as a child. All should be in the same boat and sentanced in the same fashion but of course we all know that they won't be.My bet is on the illegal getting the worst punishment.Justice is truly blind

We agree that every person has the right to have a trial by jury. We agree that a defendant has the right to have a jury of his peers. How can an illegal alien get a fair trial in a country where he is not a citizen? He can't and should be released (deported). We should then prosecute the worthless congress we currently have for allowing this to happen. It is ultimately their fault for not taking any action.
Remember this on election day! or you deserve to live in a country where this happens.

I know this has nothing to do with illegals, but the headlines in today's paper here in Texas was about how Texas is trying to give the death penalty for child rapist. At least were on the right track. Anyone that harms a child should die.

Your question is a hasty generalization because it clumps an entire group of people together, without having the necessary data to do so.
Most illegals do not rape children. This is also an appeal to emotion which is also a fallacy.
You should learn that overgeneralizations often destroy arguments.

For your information, ignorance of the law is not a valid defence I daresay anywhere.
I'm sure the rule applies to your country as well.
Get your facts right before venting such ill informed venom on this site.

"Here goes the white-supremacist stereotyping again
Pedro raped a kid -> Pedro is illegal -> Therefore, all illegals must be child abusers"
Uh huh I totally agree... just cause one illegal did it doesn't make them all bad. Really. And if it weren't so hard for them to become a citizen then they wouldn't HAVE to be illegal...

You got it right on the nose. There are so many illegals that pretend to be "dumb", so they don't have to abide by rules. They pretend they don't know English so they don't have to pay for things, they are just very dishonest and are only in our country to get, not give anything.

In a word, no. Ignorance of the law-- any law, even gravity-- is no defense, and creating special laws for the ignorant simply makes it easier for everyone to feign ignorance.
