God commands us to do what is good. But is it good because He commands it or does He comand what is good?
If it is good only because He says so, the He could possibly make it so tourturing infants was good. But this would be absurd.
If He commands what is good because it IS good then that shows quite clearly that goodness does not depend on Him at all.
What are your thoughts.

Read the Flood Story. Read the book of Joshua. Read Numbers 31. God either commits wholesale genocide, or commands his followers to. Now, compare those to 'good'. Make an honest comparison. Now, tell me: does God exist. If you insist God does, then tell me this: is he truly good? No, he's not good. He's evil, assuming he exists.

God commands us to do what is good because He is good, but we can have no standard for good unless that standard is absolute and unchanging. And only God is unchanging.

With regard to torturing infants, God would not declare anything good that was against His nature no matter how many philosophical mind games we might play imagining the possibilities.

God created all that is good and right in this world. Yes there is evil but God can not be tempted by evil. So Good is God, Know matter how you slice it. No need to over think it. And that silly tourture babies thing you know right from wrong. Very wrong to even suggest that. It is clear that God is love and he sis create us in his image and He sent Jesus to save us from ourselves. Think about that...

All that is good comes from God. God is the source of good, and his commandments--also from him--are good, because their source is good.

Why must God command us, if he is the source of all good? Because he has an enemy, who is the source of all evil.

How can the source of evil come from a source that is all good? Because God gave angels and humans the choice whether to love him or not. God is love and does love--all good--and yet for him to share his love for us, he had to give us the choice to love. Otherwise, our love would be preprogrammed, and therefore not love. It would be mindless obedience.

God cannot hate, and yet in order to share his love for us, he had to give us the option not to love him.

How then can an all-loving God allow someone to go to hell? Because God permits people the dignity of their choice, and if a person chooses not to love him--and therefore stay apart from God--then God will respect the choice and let the person stay apart from him forever.

It is love that can let go. Only hatred clings.
