I saw him speak. It wasn't memorable. The only thing I recall clearly is Richard Gere getting on the platform afterward and embarrassing himself by telling everybody how we should have heard what the Dalai Lama said and how we should have perceived/experienced him.

What great man of faith wants to embarrass himself by towing around a silver-haired, self-involved actor? I don't know.

The Dali Lama, the seventh son of the Lama himself. we'd have lunch, and then he could say "Gunga Galunga." So as quickly as I die, on my deathbed, i could acquire entire know-how So i will have that going for me, that's beneficial.

Tibetan Buddhist monks came to my community and made a sand mandala. They are part of the Dalai Lama's group. I got a lot out of being in their presence and hearing them speak.
