Complex are starches (combined sugars) and simple are sugars. Labels shows carbs and sugars. Subtract to figure the starches. Carbs -- sugars = starches.

Foods have both but fruits have more sugars and vegetables have more starches. 20 years ago all literature said that complex is better than simple. Huge blunder. No difference as far as health and weight loss. But there are good carbs and bad carbs. See site below for difference.

Simple Carbs are are sugars such as fructose, sucrose, and lactose. Complex carbs are starches that have to be broke down into simple carbs before your body can use it as energy.

A complex carbohydrate is one that is made up of several carbohydrate units joined together in polymeric chain, like starch. A simple carbohydrate is a single carbohydrate, like glucose, that exists without forming into a complex unit.

breads pastas potatoes and believe it or not most fruit are complex carbs when dieting. simple veggies meats and tons of water, i saw this thing on tv where you drink a glass of water before during and after each meal and your guaranteed to lose weight ive been doing it for about a month and have lost about 22 lbs! good luck
