Hey, I have only had two (very long) relationships and have not gotten much practice asking people out. Do girls like it when you ask them out of the blue if they "Want to get some coffee/dinner some time?", or is there a better approach to it? (I am not into the clubbing/party thing)
I'm not fat, ugly or particularly dorky. Just shy and unsure.

then practise what you might say until you sound confident because that is attractive. College girls are people too so treat them the same way you would treat anyone else. If you know them start a conversation and ask them out. If you do not know them go introduce yourself, tell them what it is you like about them ( keep it clean and complimentary no boob or butt comments) say you are interested and ask them to stop and chat awhile over coffee or something perhaps give them your Email or IM and chat online to get to know them. Mainly just have confidence and do not put too much pressure on yourself. Most girls are hoping some nice not ugly or dorky guy would come and talk to them. Have ya checked out what's out there? Most of it is not too appitizing so I say you should just suck it up, get some guts, and go go go for it. Good Luck

I think the best way that you could ask a college girl out would be to just ask her to dinner and go for a walk or something. Just go for it because you may lose the chance otherwise! I am taking a chance this weekend on a date I had a hard time deciding wether or not I want to because I went to high school with this guy and I just don't know about him much we were in different cliques if you know what I mean, but he is sorta friends with my brother now and he asked me to hang out w/ him this wknd. I am going you have to take a chance otherwise you will regret it one day if you don't you will just remember her as the one you should have asked out but never did! DO IT!!

Just ask her out. If she's in the same class, then ask her if she would like to hang out. Build a friendship.

I think you should get to know girls first because if you ask someone out, out of the blue it's kind of like "You like me just because of my appearance? How shallow!" or "Great, another guy who just wants some."
You have to seem committed.
