I saw an answer where a christian asked an athiest what the purpose of their life is.. and i though that was rediculous.. you do not have to believe in an outdated biblical god to have fullfillment in your life... i love my life and would change nothing. i used to be christian when i was a lot younger..(not to young to understand, but around 14, 15).. and then i stopped going to church, my mind opened, and instead of believing in a god out of fear... i started believing in myself out of love... life's been peachy since..

niki, must life HAVE A SPECIFIC PURPOSE.. that is from a book? sorry, but everyone has their own right with their own life... if you do not believe in GOD, THAT DOES NOT MEAN YOUR LIFE DOESN'T HAVE A PURPOSE..!! HELPING PEOPLE. teaching, traveling the world and meeting people, knowledge, these are purposes in life as well. JUST BECAUSE THEY AREN'T YOURS, does not mean they aren't just as valuable.

Even if you don't believe in God, in which you don't, you still explained basically what God wanted man to do in a very simple understanding way; What God wants us to do from the very beginning of it all was, JUST LIVE HAPPY! That's all....
Nothing more is needed, he always wanted us to have a fear of him, in which you said is a bad thing, but the fear he wants is not morbid fear, NO...that's something that the so-called Priests of God started to teach so that they would have people keep go to church so that they won't lose money....
But I can feel why you doubt the existence of God, and really it does not involve the actual Bible, but those who are suppose to teach the truth out of it, and make it beneficial, but of course we're not perfect and we are going to have some, who would do what they want and not what is written....
So ya, there are going to be people. like yourself, to see that living by what you think, will seem peaceful, but thats because you are ignoring the false warnings of these so-called Priest's of God...like Hell and etc...which by the way is not Biblical teaching..
But I do recomend that you just read the book, because it is a good book, and it has very good advice that can help anyone, and I've had friends that didn't believe in God, and they would ask me is what if there is no God, and when you die, nothing really happens, no heaven, no afterlife, no resurrection, nothing, then you would have wasted your life, right? And I would tell them, If what you say does come about, I will still feel no regret of following Bible principle, because even if you are right, that God's does not exist, at least I could say that I lived a good, clean, and respectful life!
So I hope you don't put a blind eye, and a deaf ear to the Bible, but do consider it...
Peace and Peace...

Yes, the purpose of this life is to live, but after this life is Death, and after Death comes the judgement, Jesus suffered and died a serious death, so that we can "live" "Please" rethink your plans about being a Christian, because this life is only temperal, but there is Eternal life in Jesus Christ, and it is free! but it`s not cheap. and there will also be eternity in an everlasting burning hell for all who reject this great opportunity for Salvation through the precious Blood of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the Son of the Living God. I pray sincerely that you will do as I did, and go back to Church to learn more about God than when you were a youngster, I and many others have, and I`ve not regreted it, not in the least, and you won`t either. May God be with you and open your understanding in His Word.

Sometime what ever we hear early on doesn't match up with what God has wanted us to really know about Him
I was raised to fear God. It wasn't until I was 22 yrs old that I discover that God really loves us far more than what we can comprehend. I definetely think that we all need to take a fresh look at God, and/or wake up to God.
I hope this can help.

The following is a shortcut to God
"For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;" Romans 3:23
"For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." Romans 6:23
"But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5:8
"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3:16
"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." Romans 10:9-10

For you, yes, you certainly can have your own purpose and have a meaningfull life. Whether by instinct, or survival of the fittest, or some desire within yourself. But there is another critical issue, politically, that can affect you as well.
If we are just a random quirk of nature, then, in the "Grand Scheme of Nature", our lives are meaningless. It matters not, to nature, whether we live or die or never existed. Read political philosphy.
Follow this logic for a moment. Darwin gave intellectuals a basis to believe in natural, biological creation. Google evolution fact or fiction. The fossil record is a fact. However, no one can prove how "new" genetic code was created. This "how did it happen" part of evolution is purely a hypothesis, even today.
Now why is this a problem? Check your history. In the mid 1800's, Darwin's hypothesis of purely biological creation led to godless political philosophies that have been and are the most oppressive that have ever existed. The Nazi’s were given a scientific justification for ethnic cleansing (Jews), and many nations use this justification today. The godless Marxists eliminate (kill) capitalists and (kill) believers and (kill) anyone else who gets in their way to create a dreary and oppressive society. Open your eyes, would you like to live in Cuba or North Korea, or during Stalin's programs and Mao's revolution. 10's of millions of people suffered and died. These people all had a purpose, but, the, the political state trumped their lives brutally. It is still happening today.
Here is why this is so important. Philosophically, since God is a creator, he created each of us for a reason. Thus, each of us are unique, and have a god given purpose for life that we need to achieve whether janitor, lawyer, doctor, actor, quarterback, whatever. This totally aligns with the sanctity of human life. Thus, government should protect each of our individual rights and allow each of us to find our destiny. This aligns with a society that believes in a creator and freedom of religion. That is a good thing.
I deeply fear Godless societies, for in them, we are random quirks of nature and they destroy individuals. Government should respect the free expression of religion of people and communities. Belief in a creator is vital to the health of a society.
Here is my test for you: when you have a child, just look in their eyes and tell them they are a random quirk of nature and in the grand scheme of nature, their life is meaningless. I dare you. Yet, that is the intellectual dead-end of existence, if we are just random quirks of nature.
If science can get to the point to showing that genetic code cannot be created naturally, not adaption of existing code, then there will be a complete change in philosophy and political philosophy to align with freedom and protection of individual rights.
By the way, how did the brain get programmed for eyesight. To accept 2 images, combine them, to provide near instant assessment and response, millions of lines of unbelievably brilliant genetic code, how did that happen. We could put 1000 genius's to work on this today for 10 years, and they would not be able to figure out how to do that today. Not only is there no randomness, there is unimaginably brilliant creation involved.
Just a thought!

The purpose of life is not just to live. It is also to do good to others, live a meaningful life, and leave behind some of your joys and your legacy. That means that your life was here for something worth while. Not just to exist.
May God bless you.

In many regards one might say life is, in part, a process of discovering the inherent goodness of life and self.
But human beings don't just start out this way, and early on many of us feel anything but that goodness is an inherent part of our nature. So we require "training wheels", as it were, for how to love, how to be good, how to be responsible, etc. That is what, I think, simple religion is largely about. When an individual is learning to discover that goodness within themselves, they often require a belief or worldview that promises special rewards for being good, punishments for being bad. Such a worldview orients them, so that with enough practice in being good they eventually realize that they are good! It is at that moment that ideas of "sin", for example, no longer seem natural, because they have internalized goodness to the point where they no longer believe their nature is sinful, but to the contrary, that their nature is fundamentally good, even if they may fail to live up to that from time to time. And so when an individual has gotten what they need from the training wheels, whether that be religion or some other means, then they have so internalized these things that they no longer require ideas like "you should be good" because they just naturally are good.
It is precisely when you reach this stage where goodness is just a natural part of your being that the training wheels of "thou shalt" are no longer needed, and one can go about seeking greater things in life because that lesson has already been learned.
People who are still working on discovering goodness within themselves often confuse those who haven't started using the training wheels with those who have already gone beyond them. There is no doubt that many human beings haven't even reach the stage of trying to be good. But many people, particularly many religious people, confuse those who aren't even trying to be good with those who don't NEED to try to be good (because they have already discovered goodness within).
I should say, before finishing, that going beyond one's training wheels emphatically does not mean discarding religion. Many people who discover goodness within will develop a broader, deeper understanding of their religious truths, and some with abandon religion. But for an individual who has learned to discover the good within, such an individual will no longer need the simplistic version of religions which offer punishments or rewards.
