Why do some men call the bathroom a john? Just wondering where this name came to be synonamus with toilet.

This is no joke, it is the actual truth.
The toilet was invented by a man named John C Crapper. NO JOKE. This is also why people call it the crapper, hence the term crap.

One popular brand of toilet years ago was Crapper. Seriously .
John Crapper Hence we have words used to describe the bathroom as "John" and "Crapper"

The man who invented the modern toliet was named ( no kidding ) John Crapper. I guess people felt that saving "the John" instead of "the Crapper" sounded more polite.

I don't know, but I sure like to kid my dad about it...his name is John! I'm pretty sure it comes from porta-john (the outdoor portapotties) but where that came from I don't know!
