If the power goes out, the Vonage modem goes out and you don't have a phone. You should get a UPS battery back up to keep the modem alive in case. Also, these systems are struggling with 9-1-1 calls. I think the issue is that if you make a 9-1-1 call from a regular land phone, the dispatcher sees your address and phone number on a screen - so if you're unable to speak (burglar in the house and you're hiding) the cops know where you are - Vonage calls may not have this feature.

I have been using vonage almost a year , it was ok , some times you hear choppy voice may be due to speed of the net at that time i use comcast internet some time the speed is slow due to heavy volume of users connected , that won't be a problem with DSL. there are no hidden charges they say 24 with taxes and all another 2 bugs most.
Long distance is free including majority of europe.. their international rates are bit expensive but cheaper than local telecom.

Be very carefull with that company, I've seen several commercials on my tv and some one always gets hit with some kind of box that is thrown at them at a very high velocity, and they always get them in the head. The box is orange....KECK

Don't really know? You need to read their fine print? I'm pretty happy with Cingular!
