Unfortunately it is not true. It is just a myth that stems from the way cats are. They seem to be able to get themselves out of trouble or at least come out of trouble alive...more than once. Thus, leading to people in the middle ages to believe they were indowed by witches to have more than one life...nine total. But 'tis not true.

No, cat do not have nine lives. That is just a old sayiing. Cats do seem to have longer lives than most house pets. My tabby cat is a healthy 15 years old and it amazes me how he has survived illnesses and accidents that would have killed other pets.

Yes but it's possible for them to use and lose more than one life at a time. A speeding car could cause a cat to lose all it's lives at once!
