Be honest. The worst thing you could do for the both of you is to lead him to believe you have feelings that don't exist.
If you break up, he'll say, "I thought you loved me."
Tell him you like him, I'm guessing you do since he is your bf, but that "love" is too strong of a work to use just yet.

I doubt he'll understand necessarily, but don't lie. If you like him and think maybe you could love him some time in the future, tell him that. If you don't think you could love him, tell him that and break up.
It's pretty simple really.

is he your boyfriend or a male friend? who says u gotta love him back. just be urself and do whatcha want.
if he persists, tell him in a calm manner that u r not interested in him. i know it is easy to write and hard to do, but u gotta do it. best of luck!
