I've just noticed an internal sore spot less than an inch below where my belly button is. When I press it it hurts a bit and feels a little swollen.

I am going to go to the doctor but want to get an idea of what it might be?

It could be something called a 'lumpuole'. It is often a deposit of fatty tissue that can grow on top of a lymph node. I'm glad you are having it looked at, some turn cancerous later on.

Yep...It's a little hernia. A hernia is a small tear in the abdomenal wall. It's letting a small piece of your intestine squeeze through the opening....that's what the swelling that you feel is. It's fixable.
