You are correct. There was no "controversy" among Christians about the nature of the Lord Jesus Christ until the Roman church introduced the Babylonian concept of the trinity - A father, a son and a spirit. The emperor Constantine assisted by turning the Scriptural church from a spiritual organism into a political organization in one political action.
Rome went to bed pagan one night and woke up Christian the next morning. These were not Christians which God added to His church. It was more like switching to daylight savings time.
There were people of an anti-christ spirit in fellowships before Constantine; but once the religion was made the state religion, under the name Christian, it became a mixed bag to this day.
There were perhaps numerous Christians in the Constantine palace. The principal one was his mother. It is my feeling that Constantine made his edict on purely political grounds; although he claimed an angelic vision. He went on to order the death of his own son among others.
By the time the Apostles died, Christianity was forming into an ordered religious business establishment with liturgical leadership. By the time of Constantine the organized church was ready to mimic pagan celebrations and the pagan trinity to involve the 'overnight christians' they were about to create.

Jesus Christ was a brilliant man, with kindness and forgiveness in his heart. He was not the "lord". Most people on earth don't believe he was the son of God. That still doesn't take away from his greatness. A great man that has inspired many.

HE is GOD and HE became a Man, by Leaving what makes HIM the Creator in Heaven (Glory) and being Born on the Earth, a Man.
If You were a Creator, you might just do it Anyway, to Pow Around with the People You Created, Wouldn't You?

Psalm 82:6 states I said "Ye are gods" and all are children of the most high. Jesus found the way back.... he also said you will do these things, and greater things than I did... Christ was born when god said "so be it" (Amen) let there be light.. the light was the son of god... and the light chose us to dwell in.... what would you become if you fully accepted the light and lit your golden lampstand?

purplyann, jesus's life was a living example of the spiritual pathway. His main teaching though veiled was GOD DWELLS WITHIN YOU AS YOU. he taught that he and GOD were one in spirit,he was litterally GOD and that what he did his deciples would do and even greater. if you really want to know what jesus taught before constantine edited out much that he taught his closest deciples, study www.stephen-knapp/.com/articles_to_read.htm
