As a US NAVY VET, I salute you ! If you want a pen pal when you get over there feel free to e-mail me Thur my yahoo account. Regarding, your spending time with your family before you leave--- ideally you should have some alone time with everyone. Even if it's a short visit you have a special unique relationship with everyone so if you can have even a short visit you can have private time with them . I'm a big believer even if one is not heading to a war zone to try to say goodbye as if I may never see them again. letting them know how much they mean to you and what a difference knowing them has made in your life. After your individual visits if you could have a group dinner or lunch. If possible let them take lots of snapshots. This will sustain you all during this period of separation. You are a brave person. God bless you. And stand tall & proud your country loves you....I will pray for your safe return...sportznut!

Hoping that everyone gets along, have a get-to-gather one night and spend time with everyone. If that can't happen let the ones you would like to spend time with know how you feel and hope that they will find the time to spend with you before you go. I wish you all the best....

You could do things with your family that you have always done, like play a board game, have a family dinner, just hang out--it's the simple things that count the most...

Best of luck & thank you for serving our fine country!!

have a party.... have a bring a dish meal... invite, family and friends, asign a dish or desert for everyone to bring... and just sit around and talk to them all...... make time for each person there, it will not be easy, because MOM and DAD, sis, bro, wife, aunt, uncle, FAMILY will want you all to themselves, but make the time for everyone !! make a speach that is addressed to all who are there.... tell them how YOU feel in general about family, friends, loved ones etc.... give them YOUR HEART to make those memories with........... and thank you by the way for protecting me and all my loved ones...... Gods spead my dear....... and may the Lord bless you with many heavenly treasures !!!!!!!!!!
