High levels of insulin and glucose, the result of eating a high carbohydrate diet, can result in heart disease, diabetes, hypertension, obesity and cancer. Insulin is produced by the body in response to rising levels of glucose in the blood after a carbohydrate rich meal. The insulin takes the glucose out of the blood and deposits it into glycogen or adipose tissue - usually the latter.

A high level of isulin in the blood is a "marker" for Hypoglycemia (an low level of blood sugars.)
%The insulin in the blood helps to regulate the glucose (sugars) in the blood.
A "normal" reading for blood glucose should be somewhere between 65 - 100 parts per million; depending upon many conditions; your family's health history, your race, your age, your activity-level and how soon it was since your last food intake and the amount and type of food.
Having a low glucose-level would cause one to feel constantly "sluggish" and lethargic.
