I don't want Californians taking as fact misinformation. Does anyone here homeschool in CA, who can give legitimate info so that people are not misled? One poster, who cannot be emailed claims that in CA you can only homeschool in highschool for one year, but according to http://hslda.org/laws/default.asp?State=CA home school options for CA and the Coalfax's book "Homeschooling for Excellence" that is not true. Perhaps the poster was misled?

We're in Florida. I'm only asking to help give correct into to potential CA home schoolers.

I only posted this question because the poster could not be directly emailed. I would have emailed directly to her and let her know about the error if I could have.

California laws requires you either be a credentialled teacher for the grades and courseses taught, employe cerednetialled teacher for turoting or apply for and establish yourself as a Private school, which is done at the start of October in each year. You must file a tuberculousis report on each teacher and their qualifications.

YOu must keep attendance records, show the ciricculum taken, etc.

well im a senior in high school in california and im home schooled on a program called Independent study! its when im enrolled in a public school , but then again i get all my work from a special sort of teacher that you go to one time a week for an hour... there u pick up and drop off work... this is my second year and i sort of like it, its a faster way to get credits and graduate especially when you behind credits... also being enrolled in your home school which means you still have a id, your a student, you can go to all school dances and activities including proms and rallys... so its pretty nice... again its called Independent study u can look it up and read on it......

I almost wonder if she's looking at an independent study program or something instead of basic homeschooling.

EDITED to add:

I think that's what she's looking at.
