Depends on how you define atheism.
By Western definition that country would probably be Sweden.
Sweden has one of the highest standards of living and a low crime rate.
But China never really has had the obsession with a belief in God like the western world has. You could easily say that China has the largest population of "atheists".
Where I live is not dependent on the beliefs or lack of beliefs of others. I could care less about what others believe.

I think it's China, check this information I found:
Although officially an atheist state, the most important religious beliefs include Confucianism which accounts for 20% of the population while Taoism accounts for 2%, Buddhism for 6% with around 2% of the population Muslim and 1% Christian.

through share or through numbers? through strict numbers, the U.S. probable has the most Atheists. I received't count number China because i do not imagine an difficulty-free survey on faith might want to correctly be done there. yet, in words of share of Atheists in the overall inhabitants, the U.S. probable would not rank very intense in any respect.

Countries with high atheist populations include Switzerland and Sweden, the Netherlands, and Iceland (according to my several-years-out-of-date atlas). These countries aren't fighting wars, they have high per-capita income rates, great educational systems, and low crime rates. What might this imply?
America has a very low number of atheists compared to many European countries.

East Germany 88.20%
Slovenia 29.80%
Russia 27.30%
Israel 25.60%
Netherlands 24.10%
Hungary 23.30%
Norway 14.90%
Britain 14.00%
West Germany 12.10%
New Zealand 11.50%
Realizing that E. and W.Germany no longer exist, I assume it would be safe to simply call it Germany. Yes, I would live there, as I know many people who have.

as more people are becoming atheists, anxiety is building due to the fear of death, as a result more people are taking pills> I think that god is soo important to people, because it gives us mostivation, purpose, inner-peace, and an over all greater insight on our lives and what they mean> (i believe europe in general is the most secular)
