You must have been a kid once - why didn't you listen??

I torture my son by saying things like - before I went to the shop I asked you to wash up. He'll say really, I didn't hear you. I then say well that's a shame because what I said was if you wash up before I get back from shopping I'll double your pocket money this week!!

He takes a bit more notice of me now!!

When young (under 13) kids need a firm hand to the bare bottom. That will make them listen.

i guess i would be considered a kid to you adults, and personally i sometimes dont listen because i have heard it before over and over. I mean i made a mistake once at my church and the pastor every week kept saying he wanted to speak to me about it. I already spoke to him the week after the mistake happened and i promised not to do it again and i was sorry and it never did happen again. But after that i am getting tired and tired of hearing it over and over again i just stop listening to him because i've heard it all before.

Same thing if a teacher lectures a student about somthing that involves breaking the rules, The student knows they broke the rules otherwise they wouldn't be in trouble, obviously they did somthing wrong and will figure out what it is on their own or from someone else. I mean they dont want to hear it from a teacher over and over it gets so annoying. And if i break the rules i either do it because i feel like it or its a short cut outta somthing or i did it to get out of trouble and just got caught. Kids are young and you need to raise them to follow rules from the beginning otherwise it will be way harder and may not work also you need to not repeat your self on a regular basis. Some kids may need that because they may not want to hear it so much that they will just stop but others like me will stop if no one tells me to because they are happy they didnt hear anything of it.

and it's not that we don't listen because adults don't know how to communicate with us, its just because we're sick of hearing things over and over

The reason kids don't listen, is because now a days the law is on their side. you spank them you get in trouble and if you don't disapline them you get in trouble. It is a lose lose situation for parents these days. Parents have no control anymore.

The problem is they do listen to everything you say. They only choose to remember the stuff you shouldn't of said. The rest of it just wasn't as interesting.

Because we think we know better... like, the timer of the dryer is broken... but answering questions is more fun so i'm not going to stop it until i have to move. (15)
