Blood has a salty taste and sometimes when we cough, we either break a little vessel in our throat and causes it to mix with the sputum... Salty taste is probably blood... If it continues or if you see blood, get to your doctor

heart burn, ie acid reflux could cause salty taste as well as cough, you don't have to "feel" heart burn to have heart burn, good luck
