gday, since moving house my cat is covered in bites, he gets under the house which leads me to believe he has been bitten by dust mites. He is regularly frontlined so i know its not fleas, the will his sores clear up as we are moving house soon and is there any treatment i can get for him.

If your anything like me , you know ur cat really well, if its somethign new and getting under the house is somethign new, then it must be somethign under there
Can u keep him from getting under the house for a few days to see if it makes a difference?
It could be sandflies (im in WA and really know what those things can do) is he scratching them, how badly
If hes really tearing at them my money would be on sandflies and as all aussies know theres nothing to repel them, only oil to stop them biting, not practical with a cat
Good luck and please let me know how this plays out, im really interested to find out

G'Day. :-)

Impossible to say, without an exam. It could be spider bites, but that would be pretty unlikely even under a house. Cats are normally fastidious groomers, and wouldn't just sit there and let that happen. If anything, they get bitten inside or on the mouth trying to get them off. Same things with ants, although an unexpected run-in with a fire ant hill is harder...the ants swarm and bite faster than the cat can remove them. Same thing about the mouth, however. And if it were something like that, he'd be FEELING bad, too.

If he has little scabby bumps about his head/neck/rump....it's more likely something we call miliary (not military as you'll hear many people say) dermatitis, which are self-inflicted sores caused by allergies to any number of things...most often flea saliva. There are many other causes of skin lesions in cats, however. Too many to go into here, especially since not being familiar with what y'all have in Australia....I just can't say. (I'm in the U.S.) I'd recommend you take him to a DVM there for proper diagnosis and treatment.

Condolences to y'all for Steve, btw. :'(
He'll be missed worldwide.

It could be sand fleas, some type of mites, or something else. There are even types of biting flies. Frontline will kill fleas, but not keep them from biting. I don't believe Frontline affects sand (or dirt) fleas..They are SO tiny, you can't hardly see the with the naked eye.
I would run him by the Vet and have them take a look.
They can give you something to sooth the pain of the bites.
GOOD LUCK!

It could be mites...I would take kitty to the vet just to be sure that it isn't a beginning of something else such as ringworm or mange.
