It is a sexual metaphor. I know that many people will disagree with that, but think about it ... sex and religion have always been the source of great conflict. So, the temptation of Eve had very little to do with the literal eating of a piece of fruit.

The bible never says the forbidden fruit was an apple, it never mentions what kind of fruit it is, it just says "the forbidden fruit of the tree of knowledge".

well there's not mentioned in the bible what is the kind of fruit and bible only said the name of the fruit was knowledge of good and bad ... that's all ... but i believe is a fruit which is very nyummie, delicious, desirable to look upon and eat also something to be longed for to the eyes that's why Adam and Eve got sin and we all have to suffer because of it.

The bible does not specify what kind of fruit was on the tree of knowledge.
It is doubtful that it was an apple.

It was probably a pomegranate, but most likely it was a fig, since the fig is the only specifically named fruit that is actually mentioned in the creation story.

It's actually based a set of idioms common to the Aramaic language of that time:
To eat of = to partake of the knowledge of
tree = body of knowledge
To eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil is "to partake of the knowledge of the concepts good & evil".
We were warned in the Bible by very wise people not to "judge, lest you be judged," that judgment was God's alone.
Good and evil are not real. They are like a child's idea of justice, as they go around saying everything is "unfair" because they don't get what they want.
As soon as Adam and Eve ate of this tree, starting thinking in terms of evil and good, they got angry at God, hid themselves, were fearful, blamed each other, made excuses, all the things people do when they think in terms of good and evil.
Some of us live without them, simply love our neighbors, don't judge them, and don't judge ourselves. We just do what is best for ourselves and those we love in the short and long term.
And some of us, myself included, aren't even religious.

It was probably not an apple. We will never know. I'd guess it was a fruit we do not have access to. Wasn't the Garden of Eden supposed to be guarded?

Ever wonder why God punished Eve with pain for child bearing, after the so-called eating of the forbidden fruit.
Dont leave your brain at the door.
