To lose weight, a person has to reduce the calorie intake by some amount by modifying their diet. A diet without sufficient nutrients will only increase the appetite of the person trying to lose weight. Since most people combine a diet with an exercise plan, additional nutrients are required for the growth of muscles required to increase the metabolic rate required for long term weight loss. The best way to lose weight, my dear, is to exercise.
Cardio exercise is the most effective. One of which is jogging. Or you can ride bikes. Do it 3 times a week, for half an hour. You should see the result within 6 months.

This is what worked for me. I did 200 minutes of cardio every week. I did planks and other abs exercises on alternate days. On training days, I did 5-10 minutes of cardio to warm up, then weight training, followed by more cardio.
Don't look at your scale as the be all and end all, but get a measuring tape to check your progress, and that will show more tangible results.
The good news is that for a lot of women, the waistline is the first to go!
Good luck!

You already have some good advice here I just wanted to add that the Atkins diet is terrible. You may lose a lot of weight and it might be fast but it made me terribly ill!!

I use my Cambridge Diet nutritional supplements. I lost most of my weight using the supplements and if I seeing it creeping back on I just temporarily go back on the diet to help maintain my weight.

to loose wight you must make a meal plan to schedule what you are going to eat because if not you may over eat or under eat which are both bad because you can cause serious health problems.try to cut out junk food such as soda and chocolate dark chocolate is fine it is very healthy for you but dont exeed the limits one square or piece is fine per day.
