I do realize that I have to support him for 3 years, but do you think it will make a difference if he's declared bankrupcy?

In the US, if you are sponsoring your partner, it shouldn't matter if he has declared bankruptcy....Here, YOU as the sponsor, have to show financial responsibility for your spouse....You should consult an immigration attorney....best of luck...

It shouldn't but then again, I am not an expert, go seek an attorney and ask him these questions, trust me, its money well spent!

I sponsored my husband here in the States, and they NEVER required his financial records or history....

Yes I do think it will make a difference.

Ideal conditions suggest that immigrants will not be an
additional drag on the economy. Persons with histories of bankrupcy have poor financial track records, and are likely candidates for welfare programs, etc. So, I think
that item will slow down or prohibit his immigrating to
your country. I am not an expert on Canadian law, however.

When sponsoring someone is your financial situation that counts. You will be responsible for him/her for at least 3 years, doesn't matter if YOU declare banrupcy, lose your job or divorce. In case him/her ask for welfare, you will be charged for it from Government.

Although is your financial situation that counts, they can't legally deny the application only because of this. CIC must has other factors that counts towards a sponsorship refusal.

His financial situation doesn't matter. You are the sponsor so it is YOUR financial situation that matters because it is YOU who are promising to support him.
