yep, it's not safe........now, if you cook it you can freeze whatever you made with it for the most part. For example....thawed ground beef & make spaghetti sauce, you can freeze the leftover sauce.

You shouldn't re-freeze anything after it has been defrosted. Bacteria builds up on defrosting food. This bacteria can only be killed by cooking the product thoroughly to ensure it reaches a core temperature in excess of 75C.
Re-freezing the food will not kill the bacteria, only slow down their multiplication until the food id defrosted again. Then, when it is defrosting the second time there will be millions of bacteria present already, doubling the chance of food poisoning.
Please also remember to defrost the meat in a refridgerator and not at an ambient temperature, like on a worksurface. Also, keep it covered while it is defrosting and store raw meat separately from other items.

You can re-freeze meat if you know how long it has spent in the thawed states and how it was taken care of. Not a good idea if it was left on a warm counter for a long time. Better if it was thawed in cool running water, then refrigerated and not left in there for two long. Warning labels accompany frozen meats to not re-freeze because you don't know how long the would be frozen item was thawed.

REFREEZING
Once food is thawed in the refrigerator, it is safe to refreeze it without cooking, although there may be a loss of quality due to the moisture lost through defrosting. After cooking raw foods that were previously frozen, it is safe to freeze the cooked foods. And if previously cooked foods are thawed in the refrigerator, you may refreeze the unused portion. If you purchase previously frozen meat, poultry or fish at a retail store, you can refreeze if it has been handled properly.

I am sorry to say this but the majority of people who respond here have no idea what the hell they are talking about. If thawed under proper conditions meat is completely safe to refreeze. I myself once believed that this was untrue. I had some hormel ham that was frozen, used part of it and wasnt sure what to do with the rest. I called hormel and was told it was safe as long as it has been in temp danger zone(41-135) for less than 4 hours. I flet stupid having to be told this as it is common knowledge in my business. ah well live and learn.

Yes! If you have frozen meat, thaw it out slowly and then you'll need to eat it within a day or two. You can't refreeze it, or else it will immediately go bad, because of how the bacteria will form on the meat.

I don't refreeze thawed meat for several reasons. One, the bacterial growth is rapid, and I don't trust it after a few hours. I cook the meat thoroughly and then refreeze it.

The second problem is that after meat has been thawed and refrozen, the water in the cells turns back into ice crystals and causes problems with the texture. (Classic freezer burn scenario.)

Once any meat has been defrosted it can be frozen after it has been cooked. Once cooked you can freeze it once only and once defrosted, it can then be reheated once. Hope this is clear.

yes because bacteria starts to grow on the meat so once you defrost something cook it cuz it can not be defrosted ago you will get sick
