Okay, this is my first time going to the homecoming dance.
My date is going to be buying me flowers, but didn't say anything about me buying him a boutonniere.
Should I? Is it approppriate for homecoming? Is it expected?

Um, I think you should. I doubt that he'd ask you to buy him something. Most people wouldn't. It may or may not be expected, but it would be nice of you.

If he is buying you flowers it would be nice to buy him a boutonniere. I don't know if it's appropriate for home coming any more. My boys never went and it wasn't that formal a thing when I was in school, the only ones that really dressed up were the girls and guys on the homecoming court.

I remember when I was in high school and didn't know the rules. You are supposed to give him one. Ask him what color flower he wants. Other than a red rose, it should match his tie, which traditionally, matches your dress. But no one really follows that anymore, haha. Its more of a fashion rule for formal dates haha
