I have started noticing a new product from Bausch & Lomb, called Ocuvite. It is a vitamin supplement to keep your eyes healthy.

I already take an adult multi-vitamin, and I'm assuming it contributes to my vision just a small bit.

Do people need to take a vitamin supplement made just for their eyes, or do you feel this is a marketing ploy?

Has anyone heard of this product? Is it useful and necessary?

Please read the question before answering. I know we need vitamins, I'm asking if this particular product is worthwhile, and if people actually need a pill just for their eyes.

If you answer this question with "Yes" or "Yes, Vitamin K" I will give your answer a negative rating.

I am aware of the fact that people need vitamins for their eyes. My question is whether people should buy a specific product just for their eyes. So far, only one person has had the courtesy to actually read my question and answer appropriately.

The product you referred to was recommended by my optometrist to delay the onset of eye problems such as macular degeneration and cataracts. I cannot state that it works except that no such problems have developed since I started using the product - which reminds me of the various jokes about charms preventing attacks by lions or tigers being effective due to the absence of such attacks in areas where up to now the various beasts have never been seen.

vitamin A one has to take balanced diet for any vitamins to get absorbed as every food intake is interlinked to healthy upkeep of our all parts of body. VIT A is in abundance in green leafy vegetables. For good eyes, our blood circulation/nervous system like total body should be healthy Take food with good proteins, carbohydrate, fat , minerals and vitamins

I feel that you can get enough Vitamin a from your diet and this product Ocuvite is just a marketing gimmick.

But if you do not enough of Vitamin A from your diet then this product might be a good idea. I would go for this product only if this is prescribed by my doc.

i've not heard of the vitamin.. but to what i know, it's best to hv some vitamin specifically for ur eyes.. u dont hv to take it all the time.. just ocasionally or every two months (alternately).. my doc suggested this coz there are some kind of vitamins that has a saturation level in the body.. u dont want to push it too much! however, it's better to go for natural sources like carrots which contain lots of beta carotene..

The quality of the food we eat definitely has an effect on the health of the body. Due to processing of foods; and cooking taking vitamins and minerals from the food being cooked/processed; it is a good idea to have a good mulit vitamin/mineral supplement daily. It can only increase your general health. As to the eye itself; Vitamin A (which would be included in a multi vitamin) is very good and necessary to a healthy pair of eyes! There are other indications [taken from nutrition and good health] but if you eat a balanced diet with not too much junk, and take your daily vitamin and mineral supplements; should all be good!

actually we do need vitamins for our eyes..beta carotene..in carrots, sweet potatoes..orange stuff and another supplement has been used for years..bilberry..it helps with night vision and pilots have taken it. the body is capable of processing the needed vitamins and minerals for the eyes thru the stomach. there are vitamins that can be sprayed in the nose, put in the eyes , injected. put under the tongue. these ways all work too some of them faster than if they are digested. and some people like them because then they don't have to take so many pills. as for the mentioned product..it is more than likely an ok product it would have to be checked for which vitamins it contained and in what amounts to see if it for-filled any real requirements..and you would have to think that your eyes were in need of something extra. more than likely it is a marketing tool for the company jumping on the health food market band wagon. but that does not make it a bad product and it does not mean you especially need it.

Bausch & Lomb is a pretty good company. I've heard about Ocuvite and that it is good for the eyes. I would think that because you're taking a daily vitamin this would cover it, but I'm sure if you use the Ocuvite it would be good too.
