Even if you guys broke up, its best to keep good relations, and one way is to give him the birthday gift. One should not harbar negative feelings towards other because some situation turned out the opposite of what one expects. Who knows, you might even get a birthday gift from him. Even if it seems or feels awkward, having friends to help you in a time of need is always nice, and vice versa, especially to those whom you've shown gratitude.

What does your heart tell you to do? I say that it is totally up to you but think how the gesture might be taken.
If you decide to give him the gift then, just say that "You bought this before we broke up but, I still want to give it to you." or keep it or give it to someone else.
If it was me I would decide based upon the money that I had spent. I would also think about how much he would like it, maybe he would start to think that I still liked him. Then, I would think that I could save money by using the gift on a Christmas present.

Yes. I did this once, sortive. My ex and I were broke up and he was graduating from the fire academy. He still wanted me to go so I got him a plaque engraved, and I knew if we got back together I wouldn't want something important to pass by and miss out just because we broke up. I say if you are friends why not. It will probably feel better giving him the gift.

Yup. There don't appear to be any hard feelings (you say you're still friends), and giving him the gift would be an opportunity to catch up with each other and work on your friendship (considering that you haven't talked since you broke up).

If you both agree that you are friends and its nothing to do with your relationship then why not, it is a gift for him. My only concern is how long have you been broke up. Most guys say they want to be friends with you, but that rarley happens. But if he is seeing someone else i would not do it. Good luck

Well if you guys are still good friends then i don't see anything wrong with giving him a b-day gift but just make sure he doesn't get the wrong idea.
