I have really curly and coarse hair and I used to have the same problem. Do you blowdry your hair? if you do i suggest you stop because even after you flat iron it will still be poofy. Wash your hair at night and let your hair dry overnight. Sleeping on it will also keep it flatter. In the morning before straightening hair put some anit-frizz serum in your hair. It will sizzle with the straightner but remember it is burning the product, not your hair. After you straighten it DONT brush it. Put some anti-frizz hairspray in your hair and you are ready to go. I know this sounds wierd but if it is humid outside, until you leave for school wear a hat to help flatten it out.

If humidity is the problem there is a great product called Lee Stafford Poker Straight Dehumidifier. Works a treat!
Also using a good straightening iron (like a GHD!!)
My hair is a nightmare at times and I find the best way to make my straightening attempts last is to wash it the night before I want to wear it straight, blow dry it using a little product then leave it. The next morning all i do is spray it with some heat defence spray, use my GHD and it lasts all day!
You could also think about chemical straightening. I'm a big fan of it.

Your hair might be like mine--it just doesn't get straight. You may just want to live with it or try a new style. If your hair is curly or wavy, try this (it's what I do):
Wash in the morning with a curling shampoo.
Let your hair air dry with no chemicals or anything (ya know, naturally).
Enjoy your natural, damage-free locks.
That's what I do every morning, and it looks awesome. I hope I helped you out!

You probably live somewhere humid, which will make your hair curl back up. Try hairspray after you straighten with a staightening iron. You might have to chemically straighten to get the results permanently

There is a product out made with marshmellow root. After you're done in the shower, massage it into your scalp, brush it out and blowdry it. If you straighten it afterward it will hold all day. My friend Andrea uses this stuff and it works! She has frizz so bad, people think she attempted to give herself a fro in middle school.

You need to find some products with silicone in them. These polymers will bond with the hair shaft to keep moisture out of it and hold your style. Silicone related products include: cyclomethicone and dimethicone. Simply google silicone hair styling products or go to your fave drug store or salon and ask about these type of products.

Hair is just what it is, if it does not want to be straight it will not be. It's a fact, not a choice. Trying to make it straight may cause serious damage later in life.

I doubt you can keep it straight all day, if the kink is so strong. Try hair spray, wax or gel and see if any work. You could also ask the hairdresser if they do permanent hair straightening.
